announcements

Here are a few upcoming events and announcements we want to spotlight for you.

September 6 - Ladies’ Study

We will begin a new ladies’ study on Saturday, September 6 at 9:00am. This year we will be studying Consider the Lillies by Jonny Ardavanis, a book about how meditating on God’s character can help us to trust him in the midst of life’s trials. To prepare for the study, please pick up a copy of the book and read the foreword, introduction, and chapter 1. We hope you’ll join us!

September 7 - Youth Event

Join us Sunday night, September 7 at 5:30pm for our next youth event. Come prepared to build the most intricate contraptions imaginable as we make Rube Goldberg Machines. We'll also eat a meal together and spend time discussing how God's Word applies to our lives. Please RSVP to this event by email to notify us how many from your family will be attending.

SMALL GROUP Sign Up

Each week, members of our church meet in homes to discuss scripture, pray, and encourage one another in the faith. These groups are roughly geographic in nature, and we encourage people from all ages and stages of life to interconnect. We are relaunching small groups after taking a break for the summer, and would love for you to join us. If you are interested in finding a group, click the link to sign up.

Host a college student

As the school year begins again, our church is excited to welcome many returning and new college students. One way we can bless these young people is by having them over to our homes for a meal, for fellowship, and even to give a place to study. If you are interested in hosting a college student in this way this fall, or if you are a college student interested in experiencing this type of care from our body, please sign up by clicking the appropriate link below.

September 19-21 - College Retreat

Flint Hills Bible Church in Emporia is once again hosting a retreat for college-aged to mid-twenties young adults this fall. This is a great opportunity to spend time with believers from our church as well as from Flint Hills so that we can more deeply encourage, edify, and serve one another. This year's topic is By the Book - No Other: God-Gospel-Book-Hope. The retreat will be held at Camp Chippewa (2577 Idaho Rd, Ottawa KS, 66067) from 5:00pm Friday, September 19 to 1:00pm Sunday, September 21. It is $45 to attend, which includes meals throughout the weekend.

September 21 - Youth Group Book STudy

Once a month, our youth group will meet to study through the book Respectable Sins by Jerry Bridges. This resource walks through what Scripture says about many categories of sin that we tend to gloss over and not treat very seriously. We hope it will be a beneficial time of learning how to view sin the way God does. Our first meeting will be on Sunday night, September 21, at 5:30pm.

September 26-27 - Men’s Campout

All men aged 16 and up are invited to join us for a men's campout September 26-27 at Clinton Lake. The campout will begin at 5:00pm Friday night and finish Saturday afternoon. We'll enjoy fellowship and time spent together in God's Word, as well as have opportunities for outdoor activities. Getting away for a brief period and connecting with the other men at our church can lead to deeper relationships with one another and it is spiritually beneficial for you and for our church. There is no cost this year, but please sign up to help us prepare. We hope you can join us!

September 28 - Church Picnic

We invite you to join us on Sunday night, September 28 at 5:00pm to enjoy a church picnic. Weather permitting, we’ll meet outside to enjoy a potluck dinner, yard games, and great fellowship. This is a great opportunity to deepen your relationships with others in our body as you talk over a meal or toss a frisbee around. We will provide paper products, plasticware, and drinks. We ask that families bring enough of a main dish to feed your family plus one, and that those attending as individuals bring either a side or dessert to share. Please bring a few lawn chairs and/or a blanket for yourself as well.
